The on-line application is now open for the NIH/NIMHD-funded Minority Health and Health Disparities International Research Training program (MHIRT) which we refer to as the Latino Mental Health Research Training Program. The last day to submit an application is February 1, 2018. Undergraduate and pre-doctoral level students who are interested in conducting mental health research in Mexico during the summer of 2018 are encouraged to apply. See attached flyer for information

The Learning Research and Development Center (LRDC) at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking summer undergraduate interns to promote broader participation in training in the Learning Sciences. We aim to bring students to LRDC who embody the diversity of our nation, region, and city. LRDC interns gain experience in the Learning Sciences (research on instruction and learning) by working on a project with a faculty member who specializes in this area. Interns may also work with advanced graduate students or postdoctoral fellows in the faculty members' labs. Faculty have primary appointments in the Department of Psychology, and the Schools of Education, Law, and Computing and Information. Although applications from all undergraduate students will be considered, these internships are most appropriate for students who will be entering the final year of undergraduate study. These internships will provide valuable experience for students who intend to apply for graduate programs, and will include professional development seminars run by the internship director, other faculty, and LRDC graduate students.
The internship program will run from May 20-June 30, 2018 and all participants are expected to be in residence for the entire program. Housing and a stipend will be provided. A limited number of travel supplements are available to fund student travel to and from Pittsburgh.
Eligibility requirements: Students should have a primary field of study in an area relevant to the learning sciences. GPA should be over 3.0, however promise can be demonstrated through other means, such as letters of recommendation, student background, research experience, etc. The University of Pittsburgh is an Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity Institution. New York Medical College offers a CEPH accredited, completely MPH program as well as a variety of certificate programs in various areas of public health. The public health concentration in Behavioral Science and Health Promotion may be of interest to students completing a bachelor’s degree in psychology. The program requires 46 credits for completion; most students complete that coursework in 2 and ½ to 3 years. The program is available in four concentration areas:
- Behavioral Science and Health Promotion
- Environmental Health Science
- Epidemiology
- Health Policy and Management
Three of those concentrations are available completely online, in a traditional classroom format, or as a hybrid of those two formats. Epidemiology is offered only in a traditional classroom format. There is also a Master's program in Biostatistics.
In addition, there are certificates in:
- Emergency Preparedness
- Environmental Health
- Global Health
- Health Education
- Industrial Hygiene
All of these certificates are offered completely online, and can also be completed
