Dr. Kleiman's research focuses on the prediction and prevention of suicidal thoughts and behaviors, using ecological momentary assessment, ecological momentary intervention, and ambulatory physiological monitoring to study risk as it unfolds in daily life. This work pairs intensive longitudinal methods and multilevel modeling with the development of digital interventions designed to reach people in the moments they most need support. A second strand of his work is concerned with improving the care people actually receive, particularly during and after psychiatric hospitalization.
