Ben received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Rutgers University in 2026 along with certificates in Cognitive Science and Socially Cognizant Robotics. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Cooper Union in New York City and worked as an engineer at Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas. Ben is interested in human-robot interaction, focusing on social robot navigation. His research has investigated the affective responses that people have to robot encounters and novel robot navigation algorithms. Currently he is researching how human navigation is impacted by the presence and behavior of a robot.
