Dr. Brianna Altman is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Psychology. Dr. Altman received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York, and completed her psychology internship at the Alpert Medical School at Brown University. She completed her post-doctoral training under the mentorship of Drs. Samantha Farris and Teresa Leyro at Rutgers University. Her research focuses on co-occurring substance use and internalizing disorders with a focus on underlying transdiagnostic mechanisms. Dr. Altman was awarded a K23 grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) to employ a multi-method approach in studying how various internal states and contextual factors influence individuals’ momentary distress tolerance and subsequent smoking behavior.
