I am an Assistant Professor of Psychology and director of the SHIRE (Social Human-AI Impressions & Representations) Lab. I study how people and AI represent the social world: the content of stereotypes and face impressions and the structure of perceptions of people who belong to multiple social groups. I also study how these social representations shape intergroup relations and interactions between humans and AI systems. To examine these topics, I combine behavioral experiments with computational approaches, including text analysis of survey and internet data and computer vision methods. This work has implications for how we understand and address discrimination by both people and AIs.
