grace

The Clara Mayo grant was set up by the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues to support masters’ theses or pre-dissertation research on aspects of sexism, racism, or prejudice. Grace was selected as a recipient for my Masters thesis proposal "Challenging biological justifications for the orgasm gap: Implications for immutability beliefs and orgasm pursuit."

Project Description:

Researchers examine gender disparities across various domains of life, and the “orgasm gap” is one such disparity within the domain of sexuality. The orgasm gap should be viewed as a gender equality issue. As such, this project relates directly to the Clara Mayo goals of dismantling sexism by addressing a vital yet understudied area of gender inequity. SPSSI prioritizes research that is rejected by traditional outlets, and research in the sexuality domain is consistently devalued and overlooked. Additionally, biological justifications for group differences are used to uphold inequalities across domains, yet little research to date has examined interventions to reduce this biological thinking. As a result, this research has broader implications for social equity beyond the sexuality and gender domains.
