Graduate Student Mindy Kibbey was recently awarded a three-year Ruth L. Kirschstein Predoctoral Fellowships from the National Institute on Aging. The project, entitled  "Measurement of Exercise Avoidance and False Safety Behaviors in Older Adults" focuses on exercise avoidance behaviors in cardiac rehabilitation patients on order to help develop better metrics for self-reports. The project will be a collaborative effort with the RWJUH Cardiac Rehab clinic for this study, and includes a mentoring team comprised of Drs. Samantha Farris, Angelo DiBello (GSAPP/CAS), and Mike Steinberg (RWJ/Medicine) along with additional faculty from the Brown Medical School and UMass Medical School. With this all-star mentoring team, the award will provide the opportunity for Mindy to receive training in methods related to anxiety, aging, exercise prescription, and measurement development.
