Tom R. Tyler Macklin Fleming Professor of Law and Professor of Psychology Yale Law School

Tom Tyler's research explores the dynamics of authority in society, examining how judgements about the fairness of group procedures shape legitimacy, compliance and cooperation. His books include The Social Psychology of Procedural Justice (1988); Social Justice in a Diverse Society (1997); Why People Obey the Law (2006); and Why Children Follow Rules (2017).
