I am not currently involved in laboratory research, but in
earlier years published numerous research articles on the
anatomy and function of the limbic system of the rat brain. Much
of this research focused on the development of brain functions
over the lifespan, with special emphasis on inhibitory behaviors. This,
in turn, led to theoretical interests in the evolution of
the brain and behavior.
My enthusiasm for teaching has remained constant, and I have taught undergraduate and graduate courses across a broad range of experimental and biological psychology. My general interests in undergraduate education have led me to my current position as Director of Advising for the Department of Psychology.
When not thinking about the brain or undergraduate education, I am thinking about stormwater and other environmental issues, donating significant amounts of time to local environmental groups and municipal government.
